ELO is pleased to announce that Andrew Atherstone, Latimer Research Fellow, Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford, will be an instructor in the ELO Oxford Leadership Program 2024. He will lead sessions on "Repackaging Christianity: Alpha and the Building of a Global Brand" and "A Primer on the Christian Heritage of Oxford."

Andrew Atherstone is a historian of modern Christianity. He is Latimer Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and a Member of Oxford University’s Faculty of Theology and Religion. He is author of Repackaging Christianity: Alpha and the Building of a Global Brand (2022).  He has published widely on the history of evangelicalism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Andrew studied mathematics and theology at Christ’s College, Cambridge, followed by a doctorate in ecclesiastical history at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He was ordained in 2001 as curate of Christ Church, Abingdon, near Oxford, and four years later joined the Latimer Trust (an Anglican evangelical research institute) as research fellow. He returned to Wycliffe Hall to teach in 2007, and is a member of Oxford University’s Faculty of theology and Religion, and a fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He is also associate minister in Eynsham and Cassington, two villages in West Oxfordshire, where he lives with his wife, Catherine and their three children.

He is a member of the Church of England’s General Synod., and currently serves on the Faith and Order Commission, the Liturgical Commission, and the Council for Christian Unity. Andrew’s main research explores Anglicanism and Evangelicalism from the 18th Century to the present.

The ELO Oxford Leadership Program is a one-week, transformative learning experience for Christian business leaders which integrates guest presenters from the University of Oxford and practitioners around the world. The content of the program is rooted in decades of experience, extensive research, and many years of practical application.

In addition to world-class instruction, the ambiance of Oxford is inspiring for all participants. The 850-year-old university city with its fabled spires and medieval colleges, along with various other attractions, is truly a sight to behold.

This year’s program will be hosted at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Dinners and site visits will be held at Balliol College, Magdalen College, Christ Church College, and St. John’s College.
